Topic: The Bodhisattva Vow Ceremony
Rinpoche will explain the bodhisattva vow ceremony as it is presented in the book Path of the Bodhisattva (Parts 1 and 2 of the text). Part 1, the opening prayers, first invokes the lineage through which blessings can flow into us, and then, with the seven branch offering, provides the rocket fuel of vast merit to supercharge our journey to enlightenment. Next, Part 2 involves taking the Refuge Vow as a basis, followed by the actual taking of the Bodhisattva Vow itself, which is the commitment to benefit all beings as a first priority, which naturally benefits ourselves as well. This simple, traditional ceremony is often recited as a daily practice for students of this tradition.
