Lha Bab Duchen Wheel Day Celebration: Buddha’s Descent from Heaven
Come celebrate Buddha Shakyamuni’s descent from Heaven!
Lha Bab Duchen, the “Festival of the Descent from Heaven,” is one of the four major Buddhist holidays. It occurs on the 22nd day of the 9th Tibetan month. Previously, Buddha had ascended to the Heaven of Thirty-Three in order to give teachings to benefit the gods in the desire realms and to repay the kindness of his mother by liberating her from samsara. On this day, Buddha returned from heaven to earth.
On Lha Bab Duchen, the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied ten million times. It is traditional to engage in virtuous activities and prayer on this day.
Lama Drimed will lead the Shower of Blessings practice and tsog. Please bring healthy food and drink to share.
